Shouldn't these be categorized by album somehow? I saw how you did it here Category:ACSS Tablature But how about you just do all Guitar tabs on one page, and categorize them by album? Kinda like we did with the Myspace Photos. Ron Zombie 04:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

We have a tablature category here which is divided into guitar, bass and eventually keys, that will then direct to all songs for a particular instrument. We're also making categories by era/album :) ‡-me-‡ 04:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Tablatures infobox[edit]

Hi! It's been a long time coming for me, and I've noticed that a lot of tablature articles appeared here. It's pretty cool, but I dislike the semantical structure of these articles that causes redundant categorization that's being duplicated by song categories. The current appearance of the tablature articles is just like a simple copy-paste with a tiny media-wiki markup usage, and it causes misspelling and other mistakes copied from the sources where the tabs are taken from (e.g. "Get Your Gun", "Astonishing Panorama of the End Times"). As you could notice, all tablatures have similar meta-data structure, so I'd like to propose a tablature template that can hold this info in more wiki way. Also I would like to propose to join songs and their tablatures articles (making article sections) with the following removal of unnecessary categories like Tablature, Guitar Tablature etc. I realize this makes the song articles bigger but it has at least two benefits: (1) all song-related info is located in the same place; (2) only few categories are required (e.g. "Guitar Tablatures", "Bass Tablatures"...). The curreny usage of the tablature template is as following:

{{Tablature
| Type = Guitar
| Tuning = Drop D
| Effects = distortion
}}

The template output would be the following in this case:

Currently it's all I would like to say on it. Thanks. (scarshock 14:40, 4 April 2010 (UTC))

Hi there, thanks for the template we did actually consider making one, however decided against it as the new design is in the coding stages at the moment and all the existing templates will need to be changed to suit. With regards to the categories, I realize that there are a few of them, but they were created with reader access in mind rather than internal organisation. I know that if I want to look for tabulation I don't want to have to go scroll through a whole song article to find it, I'd rather just have a tabluation section with tabs listed that's easy to find. With that said, we were intending on linking to the tabs on each song article also. :) ‡-me-‡ 02:15, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand why your template wouldn't follow the layout we already have made like this:
{{Tablature
| Album = [[Holy Wood]]
| Song = [[A Place in the Dirt]]
| Tuning = Drop D
}}

tablature for Guitar tablature
Tuning Drop D
Tabbed by unknown

Emmm, if you're talking to me... I just proposed to join song information and their tablatures articles - it could eliminate redundant album/song keys if the songs and tabs are joined. (scarshock 08:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC))
Thank you for reply, ‡-me-‡! :) As you have decided against it because of the styling - the style is always modifiable, so I totally agree with you regarding to the infobox style. But I would like to say that my template was simply a proof of concept just to point for some discrepancies with the current structure of MansonWiki. You said, I know that if I want to look for tabulation I don't want to have to go scroll through a whole song article to find it, I'd rather just have a tabluation section with tabs listed that's easy to find. - sure, a good point for usability, however MediaWiki supports headers and sections, and as the page grows, MediaWiki offers quick links referencing exactly the pointed sections in a page (implemented in HTML #-like anchors). Also I would like to say that lyrics or trivias of the songs, album galleries, etc are not separated from the song articles, so I can't see the reason of the tablature articles separation. Moreover, all tabs could be at the same page, though I think the tabs <pre>...tab...</pre> could be redesigned somehow if they go on song pages. That's my vision as a software developer. Thanks. :) (scarshock 08:06, 5 April 2010 (UTC))
Hi again, I understand what you're saying. I have no problem with the tablature being included on the song articles, provided that we keep the tablature link in the site navigation which leads to a page which lists all of the tablature by album/era and instrument. If that's a project that you'd like to undertake then go right ahead :) ‡-me-‡ 14:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: There's a lot of them though ;p ‡-me-‡ 14:39, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
