"When the Heart Guides the Hand" is the second track from the 2007 release Eat Me, Drink Me. Scheduled to be the lead single for which the video is known to feature a club scene where Evan Rachel Wood wears hearts over her eyes, the key chorus lyric to the song is ‘if you break my heart, I’ll break your heart-shaped glasses’ (apparently a reference to her been a nymphet).

RockMag describes it as "a compulsive, hypnotic and almost militaristic rhythm balances out the tempo. One thinks of the sound of Walk In Line by Joy Division transported to the 21st century and boosted by a demonic sound. Some synths are subtlety placed in the song, recalling the 80’s. The song is ultra-repetitive and puts one in mind of both Violent New Breed and Shotgun Messiah (the latter Tim Skold is an ex-member of). The bassist asserts his domination over the composition and mixes it in with undeniable talent against the desperate voice of the God of Fuck. Towards the end of the song a broken toy box precipitates the songs and hurls the listener into the abyss. When The Heart Guides The Hand will be the future genocide, ready to tear into goth club dance floors in the near future." It has a running time of 5:00.
