Thrift was to be the seventh cassette by Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, mixed and mastered at Sync Studios in November of 1991 and intended for release in 1992. Recording was funded by a demo deal with Sony A&R, Thrift was shelved and never released as it didn't feature Sara Lee Lucas on drums.


The Spooky Kids would return to Sync Studios recording After School Special in December of 1991, using the remaining proceeds from the Sony A&R deal. Sony A&R would pass on Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids in March of 1992.
