"'''Smells Like Children'''" is an unreleased song that was initially recorded sometime during the ''[[Smells Like Children]]'' recording sessions and is considered to be a precursor to the song "[[Kinderfeld]]". While "Smells Like Children" is a hard industrial rock song in the vein of ''[[Portrait of an American Family]]'' and "Kinderfeld" is slow and atmospheric, they share the same basic structure played at different tempos. Also, several lines from "Smells Like Children" would eventually be reused in "Kinderfeld". <br> Although it shares its name with the ''Smells Like Children'' EP, "Smells Like Children" was not released on that album. It was, however, regularly performed live on the [[Smells Like Children (tour)|supporting tour]]. <br>
Though live recordings of the song had been widely bootlegged for decades, a studio recording was not released until 2011, when Scott Putesky released it via the music website, SoundCloud.
