The song attracted attention due to the liner notes of Antichrist Superstar stating that [Irresponsible Hate Anthem was recorded live on February 14, 1997], despite that the album was released on October 8, 1996.

The song opened with the phrase "when you are suffering, know that I had betrayed you." and "and all the children sing: We hate love, we love hate." The phrase "we hate love, we love hate" was repeated four times. These phrases were distorted.

The phrase "when you are suffering, know that I had betrayed you" also appeared in the ending section of Antichrist Superstar and Empty Sounds of Hate .
