Kerrang: This is www.kerrangawards.com with the one and only Marilyn Manson.
Thanks very much for coming here. You've flown in for the Kerrang! Awards, how's the day been for you?
Marilyn Manson: It's such a strange award because the people involved in it are, you know, such established icons that it's quite an honour.
Kerrang: Your in the same company as Jimmy Paige, Black Sabbath, AC-DC, how does that make you feel?
Marilyn Manson: I'm worried if it makes me feel old or not, but I'm back to kick everyone's ass, so don't worry about it.
Kerrang: You've got the launch of 'Holy Wood' coming up soon. Is this the perfect way to kick-start the next chapter of Marilyn Manson?
Marilyn Manson: Yes it is. It's full on, in you face most violent and thoughtful record that I've done.
Kerrang: Can we get a quick run through of the concepts behind it?
Marilyn Manson: It's the beginning of the trilogy that I started with Antichrist Superstar. I worked my way backwards so this record is very much about revolution. It's very much wrapped up in the year 1969 when I was born, when Altamont happened, the Manson murders happened and it was kind of the death of an era andI started to see 1999 in the same way, so that was an inspiration to making the record.
Kerrang: So is the beginning and the end of Marilyn Manson all wrapped up into one?
Marilyn Manson: This is the end of an era. So what happens next is to be seen, you know, I live day by day.
Kerrang: What happened to the Mercury character we were expecting?
Marilyn Manson: Oh that's very much part of the album, very much part of the tour.
Kerrang: And the shaved head?
Marilyn Manson: The shaved head was a thing, you know, that was part of ritualistic rebirth that a lot of people, idols, such Aleister Crowley and Levay have gone through, so it was part of my transformation.
Kerrang: And how are you planning to celebrate your Kerrang! Award tonight?
Marilyn Manson: Maybe I could get together with Slipknot and we could all bludgeon Limp Bizkit.
Kerrang: Fantastic. We'll be there, so you'll have the opportunity. Thanks for coming over.
Marilyn Manson: Alright.
