On May 8, 2017, Marilyn Manson announced the new title of the album, ''Heaven Upside Down''.


On June 2, 2017, a new album release date was revealed in ''[https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/a-brief-history-of-marilyn-manson-pissing-off-jesus-christ A Brief History of Marilyn Manson Pissing Off Jesus Christ]'' at ''Noisey'' - July 9, 2017 - but that turned out not to be the correct release date.


On September 12, 2017, Marilyn Manson revealed why the album didn't come out on Valentine's Day as originally planned. Manson told Loudwire that he wasn’t happy with the album when the release date was getting closer and subsequently wrote three new songs: [[Revelation 12|Revelation #12]], [[Saturnalia]] and [[Heaven Upside Down (song)|Heaven Upside Down]] which all ended up on the finished album. <ref>[http://loudwire.com/marilyn-manson-why-new-album-wasnt-released-valentines-day/]Loudwire interview</ref>


On October 6, 2017 after several delays, the album was finally released.
