LA vs Louisiana[edit]

Hi Scarshock, we had a discussion regarding this on the crew fb, the reason for the edit is the tour poster. o_O Harlequin (talk) 03:54, 27 April 2014 (CEST)

  • Nope, checked it again. You're right, there is a Slidell, California in Louisiana Harlequin (talk) 04:09, 27 April 2014 (CEST)
hi. i had some ideas on this but i can neither confirm nor deny:
Slidell: Lousiana vs Texas. before the reverting that change i googled for Slidell, and Wikipedia says that Slidell may refer to Louisiana or Texas. the first, Louisiana city, has a big article on Wikipedia, and it's credibly a town where the performance took place. the second, something small in Texas (sorry, for me it's hard to get what's the real state of this administrative area), doesn't seem to be a place for the performance. unfortunately, googling for the venue, Snake Pit, gives almost nothing: events according to setlist.fm, so probably this is where the performance took place, but i'm not sure -- just 2 events?...
Slidell is probably something else in California but mistitled. if you take a brief look at the tour dates, you notice that the band had three performance days in California. let's assume the tour route: three performances in California, then go far to the east through very long distance to LA, and then back and to the north to Vancouver, Canada. for me, such a route is strange and quite irrational. maybe, the poster is simple wrong? googling for Snakepit in Los Angeles gives almost zero results: a local alehouse only.
this is confusing... (scarshock (talk) 15:09, 27 April 2014 (CEST))
Weighing in, as have been looking, too. The Texas sounds interesting. On our tour list we have:
Florida, Texas, Arizona, two previous dates in California, then:
  1. 1995/01/22 Palo Alto, CA
  2. 1995/01/24 Slidell, LA
  3. 1995/01/25 Vancouver Canada
If you look at a map of the U.S. this would mean that at the time when they were probably still using a bus, the went from the far west of the country to the eastern side of the country within one (or two) days then back to the far west to Canada within one day's time. Something not possible unless they flew everything and themselves by plane.
To confuse matters more, several old sites list a 1995/01/23 show as Seattle, Washington and some of these say that the venue is "Snakepit Slidell".

josh_monkey.com
planetrammstein.com
geocities.ws under audios - Seattle WA Snakepit Slidell
marilyn manson bootlegs bootleg Seattle WA 1/24/95 prob 23rd
1/23/95 Seattle WA oocities.org

androgynous/TourDates.htm mentions Seattle, WA but not a 1995/01/24 Slidell date at all.
The presence of the bootleg Ejacula further confuses the matter because if you do a search, some places list it as being done in Slidell, CA and some in Slidell, LA and some in Seattle, WA. Because of this, unless someone has a the CD where they can look and see if it says a place/venue, we need to either not have a specific date/place on the "Ejacula" page or we also need to add a comment there about the differing dates/places. I cannot find a city in CA named Slidell, nor in Seattle. So far, the posters have been spot on for City, State. I have an email in to one of the Spooky Kids, waiting for response. any news, Sumer? (scarshock (talk) 21:02, 28 April 2014 (CEST))
The only thing I can find with reference to a Slidell, California, are death records for Slidell, California in County, Louisiana [1]. [2] at least we have reference for the place actually existing, which adds credibility toward the tour poster being correct. Other suggestions that the performance could have been held elsewhere don't seem to go anywhere. Harlequin (talk) 13:45, 29 April 2014 (CEST)
it's a great find, really. but, how much this place, Slidell, California, can be rational in the context of the band touring? i mean, it's hard to believe that such a long distance might be overcome so fast if the band used just buses. however, January 22-24 (Palo Alto -> Slidell) is a two-day time span, and it may look true (i'm not aware of the U.S. road links to evaluate the time), and then January 24-25, one day only, (Slidell -> Vancouver) by airplane?.. O_o as far as i understood, we leave the article as it currently is, and assume the place almost confirmed? (scarshock (talk) 14:36, 29 April 2014 (CEST))
I agree, and it doesn't seem logical considering the surrounding dates. At least the Trivia indicates there's a possibility of different location. Harlequin (talk) 15:13, 29 April 2014 (CEST)
Actually, this was bugging me so I checked this page again, scroll down a little to the map, then zoom out ;) Harlequin (talk) 17:07, 29 April 2014 (CEST)
%) so it's California, not Louisiana, after all? i'm totally confused then. i still seem to be unable to find Slidell, California in Google. what that place really is? (scarshock (talk) 18:03, 29 April 2014 (CEST))
Actually, I really am having trouble finding anything more than a road in that area. Whether there was a name change for the suburb, I don't know, other than the fact that by searching maps there doesn't seem to be a California in Louisiana, or a Slidell in California :/ Harlequin (talk) 02:29, 30 April 2014 (CEST)
