Portrait of an American Family Release Party is a live bootleg by Marilyn Manson, recorded on June 29, 1994 at the Squeeze in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It contains a recording of the band's performance at the listening party for their debut album Portrait of an American Family, and also band's first official acoustic show. It also features the band's first performances of any of the six songs played that night, nine months before the official release of "Down in the Park" on the band's CD single of "Lunchbox", and 17 months before the official release of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and "I Put a Spell on You" on the band's 1995 EP Smells Like Children.

It also features one extra track, a live cover of the Beatles' popular "Helter Skelter", performed at the Malibu Beach Club in Long Island on March 2, 1995.

Trivia[edit]

  • The title of this bootleg erroneously dubs it a recording from the release party for the album Portrait of an American Family, when it is in fact a recording from an early listening party event.
  • This bootleg is the only source available where any of tracks 1 through 6 can be heard. This performance is unique in that it was one of the only acoustic performances of any of the six songs. The album's release party on July 18, 1994 was the only other time the band has performed "Mirror People" and "I Got You" live, the only other time "Come Together" has been performed live in its entirety, and the only other time "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" has been performed so closely to the original version by the Eurythmics. It was also the first time any of the six songs were ever performed live.
