A Smile II

A Smile II is a 2002[1] painting by Marilyn Manson, and part of Elizabeth Short as Snow White series. It depicts a portrait of Elizabeth Short, also known as The Black Dahlia, a victim of a gruesome murder on January 15, 1947. The painting is not available on marilynmanson.com paintings in any format and is believed to have sold.

Manson's comments on this piece[edit]

"[(A smile II)] is how she left, in a sad way, very famous. Technically, but who's to say what is technical and what's not, I think this is one of my best pieces. So I hope no one buys it, 'cause I really don't want to lose it."[2]
