Personal

Hi, i'm Shawn and i'm 20 years old from Manchester, UK. I moved from Manchester to London in late 2011 to start a BA Honors Degree in Film and i'm currently studying in my 2nd year. I enjoy listening to music of varied genres, shooting and editing film, writing scripts, essays and short stories and I also add to a blog (perhaps not as often as i'd like to) where I review concerts, films and write about such things as social issues and theology.

Background

I've been a big Manson fan since 2004 and I have two tattoos inspired by him. The Eat Me, Drink Me spiral heart on my wrist, and the CMYK Born Villain logo on my chest. I discovered him in 1999 when my Dad bought the God Is In The T.V. video tape. Being a little young then my Mother didn't allow me to listen to him, but the image of him from "The Dope Show" music video always stayed with me. In about 2004 I came across him again when the Personal Jesus video was released. My Mother disagreed (being a Mormon) to the point where she confiscated the home tapes I had made for myself by recording Manson's songs directly from the TV (that makes me sound very old!). My Mother's acceptance of Manson has improved but she still does not enjoy his music, maybe i'll slip Antichrist Superstar onto her iPod. I then began to secretly go out and collect each of Manson's albums. I got Lest We Forget first, followed by Mechanical Animals and so on. Mechanical Animals remains my favourite album of all time. At this time the only artist I had on my iPod was Manson. When Eat Me, Drink Me was released I played it every morning on the way to school more than 200 times. At an age when I didn't know of much music Manson introduced me to bands such as KISS, Alice Cooper, The Beatles and David Bowie. The Beatles and Bowie remain favourites to this day. My first concert was a Manson one. I went with my Dad to the Rape Of The World show in my city of Manchester, England. I have received a lot of prejudice and judgement for my support of Manson but have managed to educate many delusional people (i'm tired of hearing about the ribs rumour). Nowadays I often blast MM music in my communal kitchen and most of my University flat mates enjoy it.
