The Raw Boned Psalms

The Raw Boned Psalms is the first demo by Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, released in late 1989 to a close circle of associates of the band. It is the only release by the band to feature bassist Olivia Newton Bundy. The tape was previously unknown to the fan community prior to the release of the Demystifying the Devil DVD, but during an interview segment with Bundy it was shown briefly. Spookykids.net contacted Bundy, and he said that it was not his copy shown in the documentary, but most likely Missie Romero's instead. At any rate, he is looking for his copy and may in the future provide a clean cover scan and track listing. He also stated that the tape was from an early rehearsal session.

Packaging

Like most early Marilyn Manson recordings, The Raw Boned Psalms came in a cassette case with photocopied sleeve artwork. The interior of the fold-out insert featured an altered photograph of Charles Manson apparently embracing Marilyn Monroe, surrounded by 1960s-style clip art: flowers, peace symbols, the word "love," etc. The front cover featured a clip art image of a children's marching band.

Possible track listing

Though no concrete track listing has been verified, there are few different sources that hint possible inclusions to the recording.

Based on the earliest Spooky Kids cassette bootlegs, it has been theorized that the tape contained the following tracks:

1. "Red (In My) Head"
2. "Son of Man"
3. "IV TV"
4. "Talk of One, Thought of None"

In Berkowitz's discography he sent Spooky Kids.net, he notes that there was one song called "All Fall Down" from April 1990 that he described as the "first live-in-rehearsal track with Bundy." Seeing as Bundy said The Raw Boned Psalms was from an early recording session, it would stand to reason that an additional possibly featured track is:

Trivia

  • The only known owners of copies of The Raw Boned Psalms are Manson's former girlfriend Melissa "Missi" Romero and ex-Manson bassist Brian Tutunick (aka Olivia Newton Bundy). The tape was first recognized after it was shown briefly in an interview with Brian Tutunick on the Demystifying the Devil DVD.
