'''The Mechanism of Desire''' is a two minute videoclip uploaded to [[MarilynManson.com]] by [[Marilyn Manson]] on [[Significance of Valentine's Day to Marilyn Manson|February 14th]], 2003, as an introduction to the [[The Golden Age of Grotesque]] era. It depicts the band in their new attire, consisting of suits resembling those of Nazi military bandsmen during the Second World War, accompanied by clips of Manson's then-girlfriend [[Dita Von Teese]] and close-ups of Marilyn Manson's face.

The video is accompanied by a soundtrack in which a speech by Alfred Hitchcock (see below) can be heard, followed by the audio of "[[Baboon Rape Party]]".
