Marilyn Manson is due to start recording what will be his seventh studio album in March-May 2008 at the completion of the Rape of the World tour. Manson has indicated that two songs leftover but completed during the Eat Me, Drink Me sessions may find a place on the album and that he has written ideas for new songs and, according to an interview with a Bulgarian newspaper, recorded a demo of one song. Though he is yet to divulge any sonic or thematic details Manson has said that the four-year gap between the release of The Golden Age of Grotesque and it's sucessor was "a mistake I don't want to repeat in the future." Manson has confirmed that he will be working with Tim Skold on the album but that their collaboration will not be exclusive and hinted at the possible inclusion of Kerry King (Slayer), Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and James Iha in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

UPDATE: In january 2008, with the announce of Tim Skold's departure and the return of Twiggy Ramirez to the band for the next leg of the tour, Manson said in an exclusive interview with fan site MansonUSA.com that there are plans of doing an album together once the tour is over.
