Lineup in articles and tourboxes[edit]

We have performers listed in the info box and then again under Lineup on individual tour pages. Is this overkill? The info boxes are already big now as it is. Thoughts? scarshock (talk), Harlequin (talk), MAFF'L (talk) Sumer (talk) 07:44, 10 May 2014 (CEST)

this was established a long-long time ago i'd like to keep it as it is. scarshock (talk) 13:06, 11 May 2014 (CEST)
And location. That's in two different places, too. I think this sample page should be redone to show a good blank templated page that can be copied over to a new page and just fill in the blanks. Sumer (talk) 17:11, 12 May 2014 (CEST)
An info box is a quick glance at facts contained within an article. It's usually expected: What should an infobox contain? Harlequin (talk)

Specifying both stage and real names[edit]

just curious: what's the point of specifying both stage and real names for cases like Daisy Berkowitz if Daisy Berkowitz still refers Scott Putesky saying that the page is redirected? (scarshock (talk) 08:23, 13 May 2014 (CEST))

I'm not sure of what usage as an example of what you mean, but band members are often referred to by their stage name with in articles. Harlequin (talk) 17:29, 16 May 2014 (CEST)
I believe (scarshock (talk) is referring to the use of Daisy Berkowitz and Twiggy Ramirez. I do it avoid the redirect page but also because for instance it should say Twiggy Ramirez up until he left the band and say just Twiggy after the THEOL era. Twiggy is the pages name. (Technically, it should say Jeordie White in between that time.) And I wanted to stress that to new users, otherwise we're going to have a lot of plain "Twiggy" links in the SK era. That way it takes one directly to the member page without the 'this is from a redirected page' line on it. Scarshock we are working on another way of communicating.Sumer (talk) 17:43, 16 May 2014 (CEST)
but both Daisy Berkowitz and Twiggy Ramirez lead to Scott Putesky and Twiggy pages respectively. and we can still use Twiggy Ramirez up to 2001 and simple Twiggy later. it will be displayed as Twiggy Ramirez and Twiggy for those eras separately. i still have a strong feeling that i miss your point (scarshock (talk) 17:52, 16 May 2014 (CEST))

Twiggy performing as a member of Marilyn Manson, would always be referred to by stage name. Harlequin (talk)
i think that i get your point, but i'm still confused. what could be wrong with the following code:
a performance in 2001
{{Lineup
| Marilyn Manson = vocals
| John 5 = guitars
| Twiggy Ramirez = bass
...
a performance in 2012
{{Lineup
| Marilyn Manson = vocals
| Twiggy = guitars
...

? %) (scarshock (talk) 18:27, 16 May 2014 (CEST))

I don't see anything wrong with either, though personally I prefer the use of his full name for consistency, after all, it's the same person who is being referred to. I don't believe there is a reason for dropping Ramirez due to departure and return to the band. I think it's just more commonly accepted in general discussion to refer to him as Twiggy rather than any official change of stage name.Harlequin (talk)
My understanding at the time was that Twiggy had formally dropped using Twiggy Ramirez after he left and did not want it used after that and that's when we used Jeordie White on the wiki after that point but after he rejoined the band, he did not pick up the last name Ramirez and did not want it used and that we were respecting those wishes.
I code the names the way I do, because it skips the redirect page, which I feel is distracting when you go to a page and there's red words on the top that says this page was redirected from... I started doing that because I saw that was how it was being done at the time. Does it matter as long as the page reads the same? Also note that the page was moved from Twiggy Ramirez to just Twiggy after he came back to the band.
If we do it like that, Scarshock, then it will say Twiggy - guitars for line up when during the SK era, it was not just Twiggy, it was Twiggy Ramirez. Sumer (talk) 23:16, 25 May 2014 (CEST)
hm... i can't actually agree that the redirection message is distracting. i would say that this helps to figure out if the things changed (someone's changed his stage name or whatever). the idea of redirects in wiki, i believe, is a way of sharing the same content virtually between two or more terms referring the same thing. we seem to have something totally different in mind. you can still write Twiggy Ramirez (for the SK era) and Twiggy (for the BV era, for instance), and it will render to "Twiggy Ramirez" and "Twiggy" respectively preserving his stage name for different eras always referring the same bio-page, so you don't need to code the names like that. imagine if he takes "Ramirez" again: then Twiggy Ramirez will unnecessarily refer to the page that is just a redirect. if there was a rule of coding the names like that, we could probably improve that rule so we just write a person name that was/is actual for a certain era? scarshock (talk) 12:13, 26 May 2014 (CEST)

A little question[edit]

No space between end of Info Box template and About template.
but why? if there's a new line character, then visually the templates are separated and cleaner (scarshock (talk) 09:05, 16 May 2014 (CEST))

I agree, there should be a space between Harlequin (talk)
Either way renders the same visual result.

I think I said that because I saw it being done that way before. You have to remember, the info box actually shows up to the right of the article. The About line shows up under the page title. Sumer (talk) 17:38, 16 May 2014 (CEST)

I know :P, but when editing it's easier to read and editing if they're separated. Harlequin (talk)

The Last time updated template is not working[edit]

(scarshock (talk) The last time this page was updated template is not working, Scarshock. Sumer (talk) 23:08, 25 May 2014 (CEST)

which template is not working? (scarshock (talk) 14:35, 26 May 2014 (CEST))
