Fred Streithorst III (born June 17, 1971), better known by his stage name Sara Lee Lucas, was a musician. He was the drummer of industrial metal band Marilyn Manson. His stage name is formed from the names Sara Lee and Henry Lee Lucas.

Biography

Lucas took up drumming as a teenager, as part of his rehabilitation from a football injury that left one of his legs permanently disfigured. Because of this handicap, Jessicka, a friend of Marilyn Manson and the band, mocked him relentlessly and christened him "Freddy the Wheel", allegedly because he walked as though he had a wheel for a foot.

Career

In music

Before he joined Marilyn Manson, he drummed for the local South Florida band 333 Lunatic Lane, and also India Loves You (a band which also featured Marilyn Manson bandmate Daisy Berkowitz). Lucas performed drums for Marilyn Manson from 1991, when he replaced the band's drum machine, until 1995, when Manson decided to send off Lucas by setting his drumkit on fire at the end of the set (ironically, Manson forgot there was one more show left on the tour). After leaving Marilyn Manson, he continued to perform under the name Sara Lee Lucas, playing for Florida bands Nocturne, Electro-Shock Therapy, and Kuzmark. Lucas was replaced by Ginger Fish.

Post-Marilyn Manson

As of 2002, Lucas is the head of the CD and DVD manufacturing and graphic design departments of the Orlando, Florida audio mastering facility MasterLab.

Trivia

  • In 2000, he was involved in a rollover accident in his sport utility vehicle. He sued the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, the manufacturer of the vehicle's tires, and, according to his attorney, the injuries he sustained in the accident left him unable to continue performing.
  • In Manson's autobiography The Long Hard Road out of Hell, it was revealed that Sara Lee Lucas has in fact had sex with Jack Off Jill vocalist Jessicka.
  • In the liner notes of the compilation Lunch Boxes & Choklit Cows, his last name is misspelled "Steidhorst".
