A backstage pass from the Rape of the World tour

Lineup

Supporting Acts

During the North American dates the band toured with thrash metal band Slayer and hard rock band Bleeding Through. During the Australian dates, Manson was supported by Australian pop-punk band The Spazzys, who received harsh criticism from the crowds. During their Melbourne performance, after making offensive comments directed at the crowd, bottles and assorted rubbish were thrown, mainly at Kat, and they were consequently boo'ed until they left the stage. During the Winter European tour leg the band was supported by Turbonegro.

Stage Antics

For this tour Manson returned to the threatrics of Grotesk Burlesk, some influenced by Alice In Wonderland. These are the elements contained in the shows:

  • A huge chair for Are You The Rabbit?
  • Return of the Antichrist Superstar podium and a bible being burnt midway through the song (it was still feautured in the Against All Gods tour),
  • Backgrounds of interactive animations, incuding:
- You Me And The Devil makes 3: Rocky Horror Show like lips that sing along with Manson
- The Dope Show: A pill with "Eat Me" written on it that continuously rotates
- Irresponsible Hate Anthem: A rapid fire montage of words like Love, Hate, Drugs, Sex, God and Death
- Just A Car Crash Away: A heartbeat line from a life support moniter
Others include the Red eyes with hearts from the Eat Me, Drink Me booklet, and the "Les Fleurs Du Mal (alternate version) painting.
  • A lifted tile with Manson standing on it.
  • For The Fight Song, the stage was set up like a boxing ring, and Manson wearing a boxer's entrance robe. The microphone hung from the ceiling like a ring announcer's microphone.
  • A robot of Evan Rachel Wood for Heart Shaped Glasses, the manequinn enters the stage pushing a cart with a birthday cake. In some performances Manson rips its head off and sings the song to it.
  • Manson has a Knife-microphone.
  • More outfit changes than in any other tour.
  • It must also be noted than Manson uses many samples from old songs to possibly tease the audience (Sweet Tooth for example) the Antichrist Superstar last song, Track 99, has been used complete though.
  • The stage is sometimes filled with candles.
  • Red hearts and white rectangular shaped pieces of confetti were released for two songs on the first show of this tour. (Heart shaped glasses and the final song)
  • During The Dope Show, the line "the drugs, they're made in California" would sometimes be changed to include the name of the city it's being performed in

Particular antics such as the big chair or the boxing ring have been added for later dates, the first shows of this tour didnt have much theatrics. the rest did, except for the Mexico city shows, but that was because they were special dates, that is, less theatrical, more focused on music itself, and contact with the fans. Manson did change outfits alot though.
