This article is about the tour. For the album, see Portrait of an American Family (album).

Portrait of an American Family was the second tour Marilyn Manson embarked on, now under management of major record label Interscope Records. The tour was, however, the band's first headlining tour, as the band had prior to this toured with Nine Inch Nails for the Self Destruct Tour. The band was on the tour from December 27, 1994 until March 11, 1995.

Lineup

Supporting Acts

During the shows in December 1994, the band was supported by Jack Off Jill. During the 1995 performances Monster Voodoo Machine opened for the band.

Setlist

The following list contains the most commonly played songs in the order they were most generally performed. Also, "Revelation #9" was known to be sampled as an intro on occasion. (One should keep in mind the band's performances were not limited to these songs only):

  1. "Organ Grinder"
  2. "Cyclops"
  3. "Get Your Gunn"
  4. "Dope Hat"
  5. "Wrapped in Plastic"
  6. "White Knuckles"
  7. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"
  8. "Snake Eyes and Sissies"
  9. "Dogma"
  10. "Down in the Park"
  11. "My Monkey"
  12. "Lunchbox"
  13. "Cake and Sodomy"
  14. "Misery Machine"

Stage Antics

During these concerts, the stage usually was arranged like a living room, much like the one on the portrait album cover. A table with a lamp was the most commonly seen. Memorable incidents include the night mentioned at the bottom of this page (Trivia) in which Manson used a strap-on dildo on-stage and the fact that during these shows it was usual to witness Manson cut himself.

Trivia

  • On December 27, 1994, the first night of the tour, Marilyn Manson was arrested following the band's performance due to violation of the Adult Entertainment Code, and taken into custody for the night. Despite this, the band was able to perform the following night as scheduled.
  • The performances in Carrboro, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina on February 16 and February 18, 1994 respectively were rescheduled for reasons unknown.
