In 1998, Marilyn Manson alluded to plans to cover "One in a Million", a controversial song by Guns 'N' Roses, however by 2002, the song had yet to materialize. In an interview with The Heirophant on July 6, 2002, Manson explained his reasoning for covering the song as wanting "to do it simply because Axl Rose apologized.
