In Mechanical Animals, Omēga (pronounced oh-mee-gah) is a fictitious gender ambiguous alien, represented visually through the album artwork and various music videos. He is the lead singer of the band Omēga and the Mechanical Animals, who are supposedly responsible for recording seven of the fourteen tracks on Mechanical Animals. The "Omēga" songs of the album are lyrically more nihilistic and superficial in contrast to the "Alpha" ones. The band would often perform as Omēga and the Mechanical Animals throughout the Rock Is Dead tour.
