January 2010
  • On January 14, 2010, Marilyn Manson updated the status of the band's MySpace profile with the announcement "Let the new era begin," seemingly signifying the end of The High End of Low term and the band's foray into their next studio album.
  • On January 24, 2010, Manson updated the status of the band's MySpace profile, declaring, "I've finished 7 paintings this week and the new album is officially in motion. We begin with a short story captured on pixels."
April 2010
  • On April 4, 2010, Perou mentioned a new photo shoot with Manson was in the works and that he had the opportunity "to hear a couple of KILLER tracks being put together. dirty HEAVY music. GREAT."
May 2010
  • On May 1, 2010, Manson updated the status of the band's MySpace profile to "Writing, breaking."
  • On May 4, 2010, Manson updated the band's MySpace profile status with "Making death metal" and a mood of "Aids."
  • On May 6, 2010, Manson updated the band's MySpace profile status to "Sayid played guitar, jamming good with..." and a mood of "Sore throat."
  • On May 7, 2010, Rudy Coby updated his Twitter feed, reporting, "Still going strong listening to brand-new MM music and watching Art being created Magically in front of our eyes."
  • On May 10, 2010, Manson updated the status of the band's Facebook page, declaring, "There is something coming, that is gonna hurt you more than it hurts me. More than simply an album."
  • On May 19, 2010, Manson updated the band's MySpace profile status to "carving an album out of stone." and a mood of "electric."
June 2010

  • On July 24, 2010, Manson added Fred Sablan's name to the band's list of members, and added there would be "info soon" on their next record label.
  • On July 25, 2010, Manson updated the band's MySpace profile status to "the countdown to unleashing new creations has begun" and a mood of "horny."
  • On July 28, 2010, Sablan noted "Zaneadu studio all night" on his Twitter feed.
August 2010
  • On August 2, 2010, Sablan updated his Twitter feed to "Night time. Studio time," and later, "HTT-M."
  • On August 10, 2010, Sablan updated his Twitter feed to "Zaneadu. All. Night. New. Songs. Volume. 10."
  • On August 17, 2010, Manson's Facebook revealed "CV" as the record label, however the meaning of this was unknown at the time. It was speculated that Chris Vrenna might be producing the album.
  • On August 31, 2010, Rudy Coby updated his Twitter feed to "Dying here because I can't say anything about the new songs on an upcoming album that will make people's heads explode. But....wow."
November 2010
  • On November 8, 2010, it is announced that the new album will be released via Manson's personal record label Hell, etc. through Cooking Vinyl.
January 2011
  • On January 20, 2011, Marilyn Manson and Gerald Matt (Kunsthalle wien director) presented the exhibition catalogue for Manson's "Genealogies of Pain" and Manson announced that the new album is finished.
February 2011

  • On February 23rd, 2011 Ginger Fish announced his departure from the band.
May 2011
  • On May 22, 2011, Marilyn Manson's official website was updated to include a new logo for the era as well as a brief teaser video. The logo consists of the letter M repeated four times in a spiral pattern, each with one long tail. At the ends of two of the long tails are a solid line, a broken line, and a solid line; this is the Chinese trigram ☲ (離 lí) of the I Ching. If the logo is "read" lengthwise, the two trigrams form Hexagram 30, "Radiance," also called "The Clinging" and "The Net." The origin of the character has its roots in symbols of long-tailed birds such as the peacock or the legendary phoenix. The site update also included the video I Am Among No One as a teaser for a yet to be titled song.
June 2011
  • On June 21, 2011, Marilyn Manson appeared live via the Ustream broadcast of Fleischer's Universe where he announced that the new album title will be revealed within a week and also gave away the following lyrics of a yet to be released song, "The center of the universe cannot exist without edges."[1]
September 2011
  • On September 10, 2011, Manson and Ramirez attended the opening of Kushner's art exhibit, Les Crimes De L'Amour, at the Studio Servitu gallery in Downtown Los Angeles where, at Kushner's behest, Manson quickly turned the show into an impromptu listening party of the entire album for attendees.[2] Alternative newspaper LA Weekly attended the event and confirmed a release date now set for 2012.[2] They also gave first impressions of the new music, describing it as "arty, dramatic, salacious, depraved" and "classic Manson".[2] They further noted the presence of slower tempo songs, the influence of Electronic Body Music and a track with "a super catchy chorus that could do the K-ROQ rounds."[2]
November 2011
  • On November 2nd, 2011 Marilyn Manson revealed a new song title "Overneath the Path of Misery" during a press conference in Mexico City, Mexico.
  • On November 3rd, 2011 Marilyn Manson revealed that his new studio album will be titled "Born Villain".
February 2012
  • On February 9th, 2012, Marilyn Manson confirmed on The Alan Cox Show the first single off "Born Villain" will be "No Reflection".
  • On February 10th Marilyn Manson revealed that "Born Villain" is set to be released this May.
March 2012
  • On March 6th a preview of "No Reflection" was released. And the single release date of single is announced to be 20th of March.
  • On March 7th Californian radio station KROQ played Marilyn Manson's new single No Reflection and announced that the new album Born Villain will be released on May 1st.
  • On March 8th Cooking Vinyl uploaded a radio edit of No Reflection on their YouTube page in a matter of days it gathered over 100,000 views.
  • On March 13th iTunes exclusively released No Reflection a week before it is being released on Amazon the song is over a minute longer than the radio edit and went to No.1 in Poland's iTunes rock charts.
