UK television station Channel 4 announced that they would premier the music video during the early hours of April 18, however this did not occur and the station later explained that "due to unforeseen circumstances, the video was not delivered to Channel 4 in time to screen it." "Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon" is the fifth track from the 2009 release The High End of Low. The song's title was revealed on December 20, 2008 as "Armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon", in the month's issue of Revolver. In a MySpace blog entry by Sean Beavan on March 10, 2009, the song's title was alternatively spelled "Arma-God Damn-Mother Fuckin'-Geddon", leaving the official title unclear until the track listing for The High End of Low was revealed on April 16, 2009. The single entered airplay on April 13; curiously, when Marilyn Manson first revealed the title of the song in Revolver's December 2008 issue, he confessed that the song had "no chance on God's earth of getting on the radio." A promotional CD single was released on April 20, 2009, containing the album version of the song, a remix by the Swedish band Teddybears, and radio edits of both tracks. The digital single was released on May 5, 2009, while the retail single is scheduled for release in Germany on May 15, and in the United Kingdom on May 18, with other regions pending.

Music details

On March 11, 2009, The Heirophant user MindRelapse commented on the song, saying '"Arma-God Damn-Mother Fucking-Geddon" is as insane as it sounds; the heaviest Manson song since "1996" (at least from the select few I've heard).'

A blog by Metal Hammer describes "Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon" as having "Heavy basslines, a stomping back-beat and a very traditionally Manson glam-chorus are the order of the day. It's this glam rock tinge that really shines through on the track, nodding to his penchant for decadent 70's rock but with an old school Manson industrial shade. Similar to the more Rock Is Dead side of Manson's work (albeit with a sound that is more sinister than was evident on Mechanical Animals), it doesn't echo the darkness of Manson's earlier work but it is of a higher quality than anything he has put out in a long, long while. It's great to hear Manson being genuinely defiant again, throwing caution to the wind with the couplet "fuck the goddamn TV and the radio/fuck making hits, I'm taking credit for the death toll". He may not be as dangerous as he once appeared but it is good to hear Mazza using one of those many middle fingers he was born with once again."[1]

Reviewing for Thrash Hits, Hugh Platt muses that "'Arma-Goddamn-Motherfucking-Geddon' rides Ramirez's rubbery honk of a bassline into a fist-pumping, glam-stomp of a chorus. The potentially brainless chant of "Fuck! Eat! Kill!" is transformed by the sly addition of a bellowed "Et Cetera!", thrown in almost like an afterthought. It adds just the right amount of glee to provide a sneering denouement to an America desensitised to the point of apathy." Platt concluded the review citing "Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon" as one of the record's top tracks.[2]

The Quietus' John Robb explained how the song was "Classic Manson, from the bouncing groove, to the snarled vocals, the killer chorus, the dirt, the grime and the filth." Robb highlighted the song's profanity and its similarity to the band's previous single "Disposable Teens". "It's got a great speaker-to-speaker chunk of weirdness in the middle where your head explodes," cited Robb before musing that "This would be the top ten hit if it didn't say "fuck" so much!"[3]

On April 3, Polydor Records alluded to the previously unconfirmed music video for "Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon", saying it will be available no earlier than April 17. On April 6, behind-the-scenes video clips of the song's music video, directed by Delaney Bishop[4] between April 4 and 5, 2009, surfaced, which show that the video will somewhat parody the visual themes of Antichrist Superstar. In one scene, Manson stands at a podium similar to the one used during live performances of "Antichrist Superstar", however rather than the podium bearing the era's shock logo, a slightly different logo containing a dollar symbol appears instead. Several of these logos are also hung from the backdrop behind Manson. Another scene involves Manson standing on the hood of a police cruiser singing, while he is crowded by bystanders holding picket signs.

UK television station Channel 4 announced that they would premier the music video during the early hours of April 18, however this did not occur and the station later explained that "due to unforeseen circumstances, the video was not delivered to Channel 4 in time to screen it." They also reported that because other stations had been screening it, Channel 4 did not plan to air it in the future; curiously, this explanation is false. Universal Music later reported that the music video was expected to premier around May 5, however this date was not met either.

The video debuted on NME.com on May 14.

Lyrics

    Death to the ladies first.
    then the gentlemen
    all sorts of tax-free-face-lifts-abortions-nervous-breakdance
    satanic girls gone wild.
    truly fucking suicidal

First you try to fuck it.
then you try to eat it
if it hasnt learned your name.
you better kill-it before they see it
First you try to fuck it.
then you try to eat it
if it hasnt learned your name.
you better kill-it before they see it

    its Arma goddamn motherfuckin geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    now do it again
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    etc.
First you try to fuck it.
then you try to eat it
if it hasnt learned your name.
you better kill-it before they see it
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon

I've got a blackened soul, morals in a hole, wish I was so dead
Now the TV sends a tropical depression
Pointless intervention, legal separation, call my dealer
I want my lawyer, we've got a situation

First you try to fuck it.
then you try to eat it
if it hasnt learned your name.
you better kill-it before they see it
First you try to fuck it.
then you try to eat it
if it hasnt learned your name.
you better kill-it before they see it

    its Arma goddamn motherfuckin geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    now do it again
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    etc.
On the news, or is it the noose? The same results may vary
    Side effects all vary
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon

    Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon

    its Arma goddamn motherfuckin geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    now do it again
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
    fuck. eat. kill.
    etc.
Fuck the goddamn TV and the radio
And fuck making hits, I'm taking credit for the death toll
    its Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon
