The Lost Horizon is a small club that hosts local punk bands and smaller national touring acts.  It's a little smaller than "The Clubhouse" in Tempe.  Smaller than the old Electric Ballroom, but about the same acts played there.  The stage is about 1 or 2 feet above the pit area.  There is no room for barricades, and in 1996, a small club never used such things anyhow.  The pit was about 20 feet from stage to the next seating area.  There, there was about a 1-2 foot step with a railing across the width of the room.  I was posted up dead center on that step.  The pit was packed.  Behind me were some tables and the bar itself.

For some reason, Mr. Manson kept getting electric shocks through his microphone.  This was pissing him off to no end.

After about 4 songs, he threw a fit and walked off the stage.  Roadies and venue personnel brought a rubber mat for him to stand on and I think swapped out the mic cord.  He came back out and the band played another song and a half.  He was still getting electrocuted.  About half-way through Down In The Park he kicked over the mic stand and smashed the drums while the band kicked over amp stacks and the drum kit before they all stormed off stage.

After about a 10 to 15 minute wait, the band came back out wearing their street clothes.  Marilyn proclaimed to us that the club was a piece shit and that we should tear this motherfucker to the ground.

Almost instantly after the first chord of Irresponsible Hate Anthem, beer bottles started flying.  About a minute into the song, some people in the pit got up and started pulling the drop-ceiling down.  Metal track and ceiling tiles started flying *everywhere*.  A large chunk hit me (about 2'x2') and I gave it a throw.  It left my hand like a Frisbee and sailed over the entire pit area and hit Marilyn in the chest.  Glass, metal and all sorts of other stuff are going everywhere.  A fight or two have broken out in the pit area directly in front of me.  Tables and chairs are getting knocked over and thrown around directly behind me.  The venue cut the front of house speakers.  The band kept playing.  Since Marilyn's mic was off, he stormed off stage while the band continued to play out of their amp stacks.  Security is trying to take of the situation, but the 4 fat guys with goatees were no match to the 150 people going apeshit.  Finally, the venue cut all power to the stage and the rest of the music stopped.  The band smashed their instruments and ran out of there.  Yet the chaos in the club ensued for several more minutes.

Riot
