The Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids' July 4, 1990 performance took place at Club Nu[1], Miami Beach, Florida.
On Spookykids.net only a July 4, 1990 show is listed, [2] however, marilynmansinimages.com,[3] lists a July 3, 1990 performance; that the band (along with Meat Beat Manifesto) opened for Nine Inch Nails, that it was Gidget Gein's first performance and that it was when Marilyn Manson handed Trent Reznor a demo tape.
A NIN fansite,[4] lists NIN as performing Club Nu on both July 3, 1990 and July 4, 1990.
It has been said that this performance was the band's third live outing and first backyard performance,[Citation needed] however references bear out that the performance occurred at Club Nu.[5]
In The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Marilyn Manson wrote it was after this performance, he experienced his first acid trip with then girlfriend Teresa, her friend Nancy (who was madly in love with Manson), and Nancy's boyfriend Carl. He first experienced a bad trip until he heard Nancy and another man warning that the cops were busting the party which ended up not to be true. Manson and the other three then returned to Barb and Hugh's home where Madonna Wayne Gacy was laying on Manson's bed. Manson also laid down and began to experience another trip which turned into him having sex with former porn actress Traci Lords, but in reality he was having sex with Nancy in his bathroom, meaning he ended up cheating on his girlfriend.
