"'''(s)AINT'''" is the seventh track on [[Marilyn Manson (band)|Marilyn Manson]]'s fifth studio album, ''[[The Golden Age of Grotesque]]''. It was recorded in two California locations between 2002 and 2003: at Manson's own Doppelherz Studio in Hollywood and at The Mix Room in Burbank, and was released on May 5, 2003. A [[Marilyn Manson music videos|music video]] was produced for "(s)AINT" which caused controversy in several countries, causing it to be banned over its highly explicit subject matter of strong sexuality.

== Music video ==
The music video for "(s)AINT" is notorious for its extremely graphic nature. Directed by Asia Argento, it primarily features [[Marilyn Manson]] as a depraved hotel visitor, insufflating lines of cocaine on the front cover of a Bible, cutting his chest five times with a double-edged razor blade, receiving narcotic(s) intravenously while a rosary is used as a tourniquet, partaking in a series of bondage activities and masturbating in front of a woman who is later exposed as a man (portrayed by [[Tim Skold]]). This music video was banned by its parent label, [[Interscope Records]], in the United States. In Japan and Germany, blurring techniques were applied to scenes depicting a woman's vagina and Manson performing cunnilingus. Coinciding with the release of ''Lest We Forget (The Best of)'' in 2004, a DVD containing the uncut music video, which had a limited run of 3000 copies, was released. When the music video was uploaded to [[MarilynManson.com]] in November 2005, a further 75 discs were offered with orders of ''Lest We Forget'', most of which came with a page of the Bible autographed by Manson.

Eric Szmanda makes a cameo appearance in the music video, where he is seen licking Manson's neck. Szmanda is joined by former bassist [[Gidget Gein]], marking the first collaboration between Manson and Gein in 11 years. Other participants included Tim Skold, [[Dita Von Teese]], Asia Argento and Vanessa Hutton. The music video was shot at the Argyle Hotel (now known as The Sunset Tower) in a 2,000 square-foot, split-level townhouse suite comprised of a master bedroom and bathroom, sitting room and a powder room. * Manson paid for the music video himself.
* According to the band's website, the scenes of the song's music video in which Manson stares into a cracked mirror are intended to be evocative of the "fractured personality" photograph used for the cover of ''[[The Long Hard Road Out of Hell]]''.
* An image of a bloodied Manson from the song's music video was used as the splash page for Marilyn Manson's website between 2005 and 2006. A slideshow on the website revealed that Manson photographed the picture while viewing the music video through a television.

* The song's music video contains references to the Weimar Republic, the name given by historians to the German state which existed from 1919 to 1933 between Imperial Germany and the Third Reich. The eyemask Manson wears was popular in the Weimar Republic. Furthermore, the scene where Dita Von Teese stands on a bed over another woman is almost identical to a photograph featured in ''The Hot Girls of Weimar Berlin'', a book Manson mentioned owning in a 2004 interview with Howard Stern.
